According to the USDA recommendations for daily intake of fiber (http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=LG4Wz&m=41FtOD6v_uLOHfF&b=1CUg3nmRoxVXf2OZZ_dfkQ), we should all be eating much more!
The average adult gets about 15 grams a day. How much fiber should we all be eating every day? According to these guidelines women need at least 25 grams a day and men need 38.
These same guidelines make it clear that fresh fruits and veggies are the BEST source of dietary fiber. Fresh fruit is a particularly great source.
Fruits with the highest content of fiber are the Asian pear with about 10 grams followed by raspberries at 8 grams per cup, blackberries at about 7.5 per cup, blueberries at 4 per cup and bananas at 2.4 each. Apples and other pears are also high in fiber.
So eat more fresh fruit! Smoothies and especially juices are an easy way to get all your daily dietary needs of EVERY nutrient, not just fiber!
