The Food Pyramid Modelled on a 1974 Swedish Concept, the Australian Healthy Eating Pyramid was launched by The Australian Nutrition Foundation in 1982. Since that time however, most of the foods within the pyramid and within the typical diet have far less nutrient than when the pyramid was first created. Remember the time that you could smell the typical fruit and vege shop from some distance? Those times are gone. In fact, if you look closely at many of the fruits and vegetables available today you will find they are lacking in the same strong colours and smells that we previously associated with fresh, healthy food. These are clear and simple signs that our food is not as good for us as it used to be.
